Shield was contacted to assist in the construction of a 580 square foot below-grade bunker, working on the entire project from conception to design and permit application.
During the conceptual phase, Shield performed a geotechnical evaluation to determine the suitability of the proposed foundation soils to provide soil parameters to assist in the feasibility assessment before construction began.
During the design phase, our team developed civil plans including site layout, grading, and structural plans to complete the design of the concrete root, soil overburden, and yard live loads, and reinforced concrete foundation walls to resist anticipated lateral Earth pressures. With additional aspects including waterproofing, dewatering, backfilling, and final grading details, Shield was able to develop a successful design and provide bid documents for contractors to assist in the bidding process.
THE SHIELD EFFECT
Shield’s skilled team allowed for the client to contract with one firm to provide services spanning the entire scope of the project’s needs, creating a simplified solution for an optimal outcome.
