Geotechnical / Structural Engineer
The Geotechnical/Structural Engineer position requires a minimum of a Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with course work in Soil Mechanics, Foundation, and Structural Engineering. Experience levels require a minimum of 3-5 years Geotechnical / Structural experience. Professional registration (E.I.T. or P.E.) is required. Prospective hires must have excellent verbal, written, and communication skills. Familiarity with various commercial geotechnical and structural engineering software and laboratory testing is a plus.
GEOTECHNICAL/STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING SERVICES:
Subsurface soil investigation, geologic investigations, foundation investigations, slope stability analysis, pile static and dynamic analysis, pile/caisson/foundation load tests, retaining wall design, soil nailing design, pavement field evaluation and design, value engineering, failure investigations, and structural design and analysis including timber, steel, and reinforced concrete structures.
Duties include periodic site visits and reconnaissance, plan, co-ordinate fieldwork, guide other field engineering staff/technicians to execute the fieldwork, review field data and samples, assign and review laboratory tests, perform analyses, prepare geotechnical report, coordination with engineering technicians, staff engineers, clients, government agencies, and subcontractors, occasional construction monitoring. Minor administration duties, e.g., writing purchase orders, reviewing subcontractors' invoices, quality control check of final reports, etc., are required, including any other duties as required.
Continuing education in the form of seminars, in-house or out of the office training, and self-study for long-term career commitment are required.
Project Engineer position leads to Senior Engineer position upon professional registration and demonstration of capability to handle senior level responsibilities and technical expertise. The Project Engineer and/or Senior Engineer will have the opportunity to explore and grow a group in certain areas of work.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN AN IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Bachelor or Master of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with course work in Soil Mechanics, Foundation and Structural Engineering.
- 3-5+ years of Geotechnical/Structural Engineering experience.
- Professional registration (E.I.T., or P.E.).
- Must enjoy working both within the office and outdoors including traveling. Periodic overnight travel is required
